As the Founder and Strategic Leader of Mothers to Daughters, Mbvoumbo has spent the last six years building more than a mentorship organization. She has cultivated a movement that brings women together across generations, equipping them with the relationships, resources, and confidence to lead with purpose.
That vision comes to life through The Ball of Wisdom, the organization's signature fundraising gala. More than an elegant evening of fashion and celebration, the event is designed to transform wisdom into opportunity, inviting mentors, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and supporters to invest in the next generation of women.
"Our vision is to empower 100,000 women entrepreneurs globally by 2035," Mbvoumbo shared with Live Affirmed Magazine. "We know we cannot get there on goodwill alone. We need capital, strategic partnerships, mentorship infrastructure, technology access, and the operational capacity to serve women with excellence."

More Than a Gala
While The Ball of Wisdom is a fundraising event, Mbvoumbo believes it represents something much larger than a single evening.
"The Ball of Wisdom is not a launch," she explained. "It is an acceleration."
After years of expanding Mothers to Daughters throughout Canada and the United States, the organization had reached a pivotal moment. What began as meaningful conversations and mentorship evolved into a growing network that has supported more than 200 mentoring pairs, hosted hundreds of workshops and events, and built a community of more than 10,000 supporters. The gala became an opportunity to celebrate that progress while inviting others to invest in what comes next.
Redefining Legacy

For Mbvoumbo, legacy isn't something reserved for the end of life.
It is something built every day.
"Legacy, in the context of Mothers to Daughters, is not only what someone leaves behind," she said. "It is what she makes possible while she is still here."
She describes legacy as a mentor who shares hard-earned lessons so another woman doesn't have to repeat the same mistakes. It is the entrepreneur who creates opportunities not only for herself but for generations that follow. It is the woman who pauses long enough to help someone else find her way.
That philosophy is reflected in one of the evening's most meaningful traditions—the Wisdom Ladies.
Rather than recognizing women solely for their accomplishments, Mothers to Daughters celebrates women whose lives embody grace, generosity, leadership, and responsibility.
"They are not simply women who attend beautifully dressed," Mbvoumbo said. "They are legacy builders."
Their presence on the red carpet serves as a reminder that fashion can communicate far more than style—it can reflect character, purpose, and influence.

Fashion has always been part of The Ball of Wisdom, but never for its own sake.
Elegant gowns and refined style create a memorable visual experience, yet Mbvoumbo believes the evening's true beauty comes from the women wearing them.
"The most beautiful looks were the ones where you could feel a woman's becoming," she reflected. "The ones that said, 'I belong in this room,' and also, 'I am helping someone else belong too.'"
It is this intersection of fashion, leadership, and mentorship that makes the gala unique. Every detail—from the red carpet to the conversations taking place throughout the evening—points back to one central belief: women rise higher when they intentionally invest in one another.

As Mothers to Daughters looks toward its goal of empowering 100,000 women entrepreneurs by 2035, Mbvoumbo hopes people leave The Ball of Wisdom with more than inspiration.
She hopes they leave with responsibility.
"When someone opens a door for you, you have a responsibility to walk through it with integrity—and to look back for someone else."
For Mothers to Daughters, wisdom is never meant to be collected.
It is meant to be shared.
